Fashion Show and Love On Top

On Thursday, November 10th, Wanda Grace was featured designer in a local fashion show here in Chicago….

My look was so inspired by Beyonce’s “Love On Top” MTV Performance. Just a basic stretch collared white shirt from New York & Co. coordinated with the Timara Skirt from Wanda Grace S/S 2011…..There’s also pics of models who were also featured at the show…Loved them and they looked amazing….

The Timara skirt is very versatile in which it can be dressed up or down. Try to coordinate it with an over sized tee and you’re good to go…not for sure if you can picture that…but I’m sure it will work!

CHICAGO, IL | On Saturday October 22, 2011, Wanda Grace promoted their fall 2011 line during a walking fashion show on the streets of Chicago. Dressed in pieces from the current collection, models graced the streets with picket styled signs promoting the newly launched Style Borrow and WandaGrace.com. The promo took place during Fashion Focus Week in Chicago. The Wanda Grace team even walked their promo through an open to the public shopping event presented by Fashion Focus Chicago, where the crowd was stunned and shocked by the unexpected surprise of fashion models walking through the aisles of the tent as they mingled and shopped. Afterwards, the team took the promo to the streets where cameras and curiosity were oh so present.

New Girl in Town

Here’s my latest design to add to the online shop at www.wandagrace.com. Her name is Kendra and she is super cute. I was so counting on designing a long sleeve dress covered in all of the matte sequins fabric, lined with black Lycra. But when I seen how the sleeves made the dress stand out, I decided to leave as is. The mini dress features a u-neck line, power shoulders and extra- long sleeves to give a scrunchy arm effect. The Kendra dress will soon be added to the shop and will be priced at $150.00…but if that’s not in your budget, you can borrow it for $85.00. Other colors include black, gold, silver, purple, blue and red.

FAQ: What kind of sequins is this? It’s a matte paper sequins. not as shiny as traditional sequins.

In the beginning, Laurie created….

I recently came across this photo taken at a photo shoot for a Chicago hairstylist back in 2008. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend, but I was able to trust that the shoot crew and models would represent Wanda Grace well….This photo is one of my all- time favorite photos of Wanda Grace dresses…when I first started the line, my design focus was on brightly colored and fitted Lycra dress. This photo is kind of inspiring to the point where I may think about designing a small collection dedicated to how I started this whole Wanda Grace thing….just maybe…we’ll see…..your thoughts???

Blogging with Grace, The Fashion Lover

To expand on the Wanda Grace brand, I started StyleNotes. If you haven’t noticed, Grace occasionally blogs with me. Grace was our summer 2011 Marketing Intern. She is a fashion lover of all things creative, and unique. She is currently studying a non- fashion related program at the University of Chicago- Urbana. During her time with Wanda Grace, she facilitated the Fashion Faces of Grace launch and the Fall 2011 Wine & Grace. On her first day of interning, she came in with these teal silk-like pants and a vintage blouse with huge 

Jackie- O glasses on. The first thing she did when she walked into the work space was took off her vintage heels and got right to work. First, I was thinking, “Who does she think she is?”….But after warming up to her style of fashion and work, I immediately knew she would be a great contribution to Wanda Grace. I Heart Peplums!!

We recently had an order for the Kiara Skirt from Spring/Summer 2011….The client wanted it in all black with some added sequins…came out very cute. I love peplums. They add such a ladylike touch to what you’re wearing. I love to see them on skirts and jackets. Coordinate The Kiara Skirt with a crispy white collared top or a basic tank and cover your arms with a cute cropped blazer and you’re good to go in your Wanda Grace. Kiara Skirt: $60
